Poetry Prompt #24

Get set to create! It’s poetry prompt time. Monday certainly comes round fast, doesn’t it? I’m receiving a wonderful response to these weekly poetry prompts. If your poem hasn’t appeared on the blog yet, please be patient. And do keep your submissions coming in. It’s such a treat to check my emails each day and see what’s turned up. I’m looking forward to what this week’s prompt will inspire. Keep in mind you’re writing for children and cast your mind back to how you felt as a child.

Email your poems to me at teenawriter@gmail.com as a Word or Text file attachment and add a line or two about your writing process.

Happy writing!

  1. Loving the enthusiasm, in daily poems, and by Teena, for orchestrating the initiative. Thank you. I will jump on board when I have the opportunity. Xx

  2. Hello Teena. I’m wondering if you have had any feedback on the poetry site from teachers. Has anyone written to say they are using it daily? I think I would. Or weekly for creative writing starters? Or other comments. At the Queensland Poetry Festival in September, I am chairing a panel (June Perkins, Jennifer poulter, Sally Murphy) on poetry for children, and thought it would be useful to know if you had had any feedback. It’s such a shame I think that poetry is given so little time in school these days, and they never learn them by heart. The ones we learnt at school, we carry round with us forever. And we become much more aware of how written language works, too. Anyway just wondering if you’ve had any feedback.
