“Summertime” by Toni Newell

When thinking of summer
I think of the beach
I think of the waves
That are out of reach
I think of blue skies
Of hot balmy nights
Of peaches and nectarines
And other fruit delights.
Of lighter school wear
Of the longer day
The end of school year
And our annual holiday.
When thinking of summer
The season I like best
I could have it all year
In place of the rest.
