About Jeanie Axton
Jeanie Axton lives in Adelaide in South Australia. She is married to Nick, and has three grown children, six grandchildren and a cat called Molly. She completed her teacher training at Underdale South Australian College of Advanced Education in Adelaide and currently is a relief teacher. She is also studying Art Therapy online through the Health and Harmony College in Brisbane. Jeanie enjoys spending time gardening as well as Arts and Crafts.
Dabbling in poetry since she was young, Jeanie particularly loves writing humorous poems. Spike Milligan’s 1981 book “unspun socks from a chicken’s laundry” was a source of rich inspiration. Although she carefully kept track of her poems over the years, it wasn’t until later life that she felt a desire to share and publish them.
Many of her poems have been published on the website DOGSLife and in anthologies such as The Toy Chest (Prints Charming Books); Christmas Tales (Smashwords); It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas (Amazon) and Short Tales 5 (Storm Cloud Publishing).

Jeanie is the longest-serving Administrator of Australian Children’s Poetry, from 2017 to 2023. In that time, she challenged writers with spotlight projects and plenty of quirky poetry prompts, including creating specific poetry forms such as Acrostic, Haiku & Shape Poems. Having the generosity and commitment to care for this website for so long is truly admirable. Thanks Jeanie!
