Linda Davidson: Curator

Australian Children’s Poetry holds a special place in my heart as this was the first time I had a poem published (Springtime Is Here). That was in 2024, shortly after I had moved cities and met Science Rhymes author, Celia Berrell. She noticed I was writing poetry for children and encouraged me to submit some of my work to the ACP website.

I decided to take on the role as Curator because Australia Children’s Poetry is a unique site. I had no experience in running a webpage but was interested in learning. I would like to give authors (new and established, young and old) the opportunity to have their poems published whilst continuing to provide a variety of children’s poems for all the poetry lovers to enjoy daily.

Thanks kindly,

Linda

About Linda Davidson

Linda lives in North Queensland and works as a Registered Nurse. She enjoys family time with her two adult children, gardening with her husband and catching up for chai lattes with friends.

Her love of reading developed at a young age. Linda says she managed to read ALL the children’s books in the small community library in Gympie where she grew up. She recalls waiting excitedly at the train station, with her family, for bundles of new books to arrive from Brisbane – wrapped up in thick brown paper and secured with string.

Linda has enjoyed writing poetry since her late teens. More recently, Cloud Racing was published in Dirigible Balloon. Her poem Ocean to Umbrella was originally created for a local school project about the Water Cycle, recited by students.  One day, Linda hopes to publish a collection of her children’s poems.
