“Listen to the Night” by Marcus Ten Low

Just listen.
If you’re very quiet …

you can hear things,
stranger than the night itself;

the creaks and crackles
like the black of a wrapper,

or whispers like the breath,
or moans, many times, distantly;

you can hear the noises
of coffee poured, or a rumbling teevee,

languishing laughter,
making out sense and time;

it could be you hear nothing,
you really do hear nothing,

so … what do you SEE?
