The dawn awakens over endless space,
the monolith emerges with majestic grace.
The mulga rises from the desert floor,
This day alike a million gone before,
The hush a finger held to the lips of God.

I didn’t do nothing wrong,
honest I didn’t.
Well, if you look under the
dining table,
you might find something
that shouldn’t be there.
It just happened.
I’m so sorry.
Am I in trouble?
Mother’s Day should be every day,
Every day of the year!
Her love is never-ending,
Her time she’s always spending,
We wouldn’t last a minute
Without our mothers in it,
So let’s celebrate our Mother’s Day,
Because we hold her dear!
A plant that makes fruit to disperse its seed will give many creatures a juicy feed.
They’ll gobble it up then travel a bit. The seeds come out later in excrement.
The seed’s ready-planted in clumps of dung. A long way from home and its prying Mum.
With plenty of food
that will help it grow,
it does what it likes …
‘cos its mother won’t know!

He stands back, admiring his artwork. It’s finished and ready to view. My brother has obvious talent for someone who’s not even two.
He’s used the whole packet of crayons, the colours are simply divine. He’s captured his circles and squiggles in such a creative design.
But Grannie’s not praising my brother. She doesn’t look happy at all. If only he’d drawn on the paper and not on her living room wall.
I took off a sock
and got a shock —
my toes had all turned green.
I took off the other,
and what a bother —
there wasn’t a toe to be seen!
I walked in light one sacred night, while mulga dreamed of morning bright.
Beyond the light and colours bright, the desert oaks unseen and quiet.
