Get set to create! It’s Poetry Prompt time again. Monday certainly comes round fast, doesn’t it? Most of the submissions I receive for the Poem of the Day are written in rhyme and while I love reading and writing rhyming poetry, I also appreciate poems that don’t follow this pattern. I’m keen to see what you come up with when rhyme is off limits. Let your words flow!

Don’t forget, if you’ve missed a prompt you can always catch up.

Please email your poems to me at teenawriter@gmail.com as a Word or Text file attachment and add a line or two about your writing process.

Happy writing!

Get set to create! It’s poetry prompt time. Monday certainly comes round fast, doesn’t it? I received a great response to last week’s Back to School prompt, with most poets going for a fun take on life in the classroom. What will you come up with in response to this photo? The traveling duo made me smile during a recent family visit to the zoo. I’m sure the picture will inspire some wonderful poems about travels, transport and journeying together. Don’t forget, if you’ve missed a prompt you can always catch up.

Please email your poems to me at teenawriter@gmail.com as a Word or Text file attachment and add a line or two about your writing process. NOTE THE NEW EMAIL ADDRESS.

Hi everyone,

I’m inviting you to be colourfully creative this week. Last week’s Bubbles prompt attracted some great submissions and I’m looking forward to seeing what you come up with in response to today’s theme. Your poem can be rhyming or non-rhyming, serious or silly – as long as it’s child-friendly. Thanks to everyone who’s been sending in submissions for the Poem of the Day. I love reading your work and appreciate your generosity in sharing it with other poetry lovers. If you’re still thinking about submitting, please do. And if you’ve missed a prompt you can always catch up later.

Email your poems to traffa-m@bigpond.net.au as a Word or Text file attachment and add a few lines about your writing process.

Happy writing!

Hi to all our wonderful children’s poets and poetry lovers! I hope you’re ready for our second creative challenge of the year. As a child I loved blowing bubbles and watching them float away, only to pop and disappear. My brother and I also blew bubbles through straws in our flavoured milk drinks – and I’ve always enjoyed a bubble bath. I’m sure you can come up with some wonderful poems about bubbles and I can’t wait to read them. Email your contributions to Poem of the Day to traffa-m@bigpond.net.au as Word or Text file attachments and add a word or two about your writing process.

Happy writing!
