Moon–watch
We’ve been studying the moon –
drawing it, remembering all the moons
we’ve ever seen.
Just now, through the window,
there’s a daylight-moon looking fragile,
shell–soft, pale white.
I’d love to go up there
whizzing through the blue,
landing on the moon’s pearly face.
What a journey –
a first for our school.
Sure, I would, after a good look around.
And I’d want to keep talking about it –
a holiday in a lifetime. . .
