You Have Teeth by Marque Dobrow

You have teeth inside your head,
To help you chew and
Swallow your food,
So as you won’t drop dead.
That is what I said.
Some people with teeth inside their head,
Can take them out at night
And put them in a glass beside the bed,
Before they catch some zeds.
What a wonderful privilege
To have teeth inside your head.
And if you can remember
To keep your gums from turning red,
Your teeth shall stand you in good stead.
Other beasts also have teeth inside their head.
Some from which I’ve fled.
Like the snake, several dogs and a horse named Fred.
I enjoy having teeth inside my head.
I aim to keep them there.
And if I do,
I will be well fed.
But if I don’t,
My fate I’ll no doubt dread.
For to a dentist I’ll be led.

Growing Teeth

That wily smiley crocodile

when basking in the tropic sun

won’t care two hoots about his teeth.

One breaks – he’ll grow another one.

The scary shark has teeth galore.

Three thousand stored inside his face.

He won’t get sore if one falls out.

A spare tooth simply takes its place.

The terrapins and turtles each

have zero teeth within their head.

They crop and bite the sea-grass with

a sharp and horny beak instead.

A human has two sets of teeth.

The first grow while we’re still quite young

yet start to fall out one by one

as adult teeth push through the gums.

But that’s the lot. We grow no more,

no matter how antique we get.

So better keep them clean and bright

unless you want a plastic set!

Toot! Toot!

TOOT TOOT!
I’ve lost my two front toofs,
I mean my two front teefs.
I toot toot when I talk talk now,
I whistle when I speak.

TOOT TOOT!
Watch out, you’ll get a drenching,
When I say my th’s and sh’es.
‘Round the words I spray and lisp,
As they slip through my soaked lips.

TOOT TOOT!
I just adore the way,
My gummy new mouth feels.
All soft and smooth with jagged bits,
Where new teeth poke right through.

TOOT TOOT!
I can do lots of tricks,
Like fill my gaps with choppy-sticks,
Or squeeze out custard through the spaces,
Making wacky, no teeth faces.

TOOT TOOT!
Will I miss my tooting,
When my big teeth come on down?
Will I have to act grown-up,
And stop clowning around?

No!
While I can I’ll toot my heart out,
Toot tooting my own tune.
I’ll enjoy my toofless yoofulness,
I’ll grow-up all too soon.

TOOT TOOT!
