  1. I loved the idea of flitterings – leaves trying at flying. A good poem all tied together with a great last line.

    • Thanks Jeanie, you have expressed it exactly. Jay, I also suggest you ask the children to watch the leaves being blown off a tree, or try to remember what it looked like. There is probably a video clip of leaves falling on YouTube they could watch. The poem drifts across the page in imitation of the way leaves drift down in the wind.
      My thoughts were that the leaves are farewelling the tree, waving a goodbye as they fly for the first and last time, about how the leaves were returning to earth to nourish the tree and give life to more leaves. I hope this helps.
